My friend Vicki, who is a pre-K art teacher and mother of 3, is one of the most creative people I know. So it was no surprise that the princess theme party that she threw for her daughter’s 4th birthday was enchanting. I asked Vicki if we could feature the party, and a few of her creative and simple DIY projects, on Stylish Spoon and she was happy to share the princess love.
The invitations to the princess party asked all of the little princesses to come dressed in their fanciest princess/party dresses for afternoon tea. Vicki set the scene in her front yard with a table-top bubble machine, lots of pink streamers tied to the branches of trees, a tree swing and music from her daughter’s favorite Disney princess movies (including Frozen).
When we arrived there were already a few girls dancing in the stream of bubbles and swinging on the tree swing.
Vicki put a pink plaid tablecloth over an outdoor table, and set a few chairs to the side for some of the parents to sit in. There was a little chair for the girls to take turns in while Vicki painted pretty butterflies on their cheeks with a few simple face paint supplies from the craft store.
There was also chalk paint for the girls’ hair, which looked especially adorable in a braid.
After the little princesses danced, they went inside for afternoon tea in the dining room. The table was set with floral china, pink butterfly wands, pink crowns and bright pink tutus on the backs on each chair.
Each place setting also had a tiny crown place card made out of empty paper towel rolls, and a princess Chapstick in each little crown.
The little princesses were served fruit salad in real tea cups, crustless sandwiches (PB and jelly, PB and fluff, and Neutella) cut into flower and heart shapes with large cookie cutters, and crunchy veggie sticks.
The cake featured the birthday girl’s current favorite princesses from the movie Frozen.
The party was absolutely adorable and so much fun for the little princesses, who loved having a reason to wear their fancy dresses out of the house.

Leave it to Vicki! Great feature Ilana. Gives me some ideas for Campbell’s 4th. Hope all is well.
