Poinsettia Christmas Holiday Champagne Cocktail

There’s nothing better than a cocktail around the holidays. With all the holiday shopping, cooking and family drama, a much-needed cocktail puts everyone at ease. Picking a drink with a short list of ingredients that you probably already have on hand is ideal. A poinsettia champagne cocktail fits the bill since it’s nothing more than a splash of orange-flavored liqueur (my favorite it Cointreau), cranberry juice and champagne.  It takes all of 30 seconds to mix this drink, making it ideal for hectic holiday entertaining.

This is the type of cocktail that everyone loves to drink at a holiday party.  So give the people what they want this year, and greet holiday guests with some liquid holiday cheer.  It will make you look like a hostess extraordinaire with very little effort so you can tend to more important matters, like this year’s family drama.

With a festive cranberry color and celebratory bubbles, a poinsettia is a great alternative to mimosas for a holiday brunch, and elegant enough to serve as a signature drink for a holiday cocktail party.

Poinsettia Champagne Cocktail

Total Time: 1 minute

Yield: 1 cocktail

With a festive cranberry color and celebratory bubbles, a poinsettia is a great alternative to mimosas for a holiday brunch, and even elegant enough to serve as a signature drink for a holiday cocktail party.

Ingredients

  • 1⁄2 oz. Cointreau, Grand Marnier or Triple Sec
  • 3 oz. cranberry juice
  • Champagne
  • Pour the Cointreau and cranberry juice into a chilled champagne flute; stir well. Top with champagne and serve immediately.

Notes

Chill all of the ingredients beforehand since you won't be adding ice to the drink.
Replace the champagne with ginger ale and omit the Cointreau for a nonalcoholic (kid-friendly) version.
