Some pairings are classic flavor combinations for a reason – they taste amazing together. Prosciutto and cantaloupe are one of those combinations that I go back to again and again. The sweet-salty combination cured prosciutto and sweet, musky cantaloupe in one bite is perfect for a light appetizer. It takes just a few minutes to wrap prosciutto around chunks of cantaloupe, making it ideal for entertaining.
Serve prosciutto-wrapped cantaloupe as part of a wine and cheese tasting menu or as a light appetizer for an Italian menu.
Make this simple to prepare appetizer when you are short on time but want to serve a delicious appetizer. Serve with Prosecco.
Ingredients
- 1/2 lb. Prosciutto de parma, sliced paper thin
- 1 cantaloupe, removed from the rind
- Wrap prosciutto around center of cantaloupe slice, tucking end of prosciutto tucked under bottom of cantaloupe slices.
- To make skewers: Cut slices of prosciutto in half horizontally. Wrap halved pieces around 1" chunks of cantaloupe and skewer each individually.
Notes
Ask the deli counter to fan the paper-thin slices onto deli paper to prevent the slices from sticking together.
